Gardening and Character

On the previous day of service learning, I weeded in the backyard. I learned weeding can help by allowing other plants grow around it. Gardening can help the world because many plants can not grow with weeds in the ground. Weeds take over the growth of plants by killing the plants. For example, trees can die if weeds take over the growth of the tree which means we can not grow fruits and vegtables to eat. A lot of plants need attention and care so they can grow to be healthy and harvested.

My teacher ,Mr.Shirley, showed us that plants do make a difference in the world. Mr. Shirley compared plants to life. While we were weeding he said that everyone has problems like weeds in their life. Mr. Shirley showed us that you have to get to the root of your problem like the root in a plant. To get weeds out of the ground you have to get to the roots. I learned that the decions you make in life are up to you; no one else can make the decions for you. This will help me to think before I act on a problem, and to figure out the root of the problem before it becomes an issue.
